Nothing exciting to report. Again, I made every attempt to get my runs in. The holidays really don't mix well with training schedules! Here's the recap:
Mon: 4 recovery miles. screwed up the watch, again, but stayed pretty close to the recovery zone. About a 10:50 pace for recovery, seems to be about avg. Christmas party that night.
Tues: Planned on 5 miles of speedwork, but was completely unprepared when I got to the gym. I mean, I was a freaking disaster. Forgot something to keep the hair out of my face, forgot the ipod. I ran for 2.5 miles, done. Onto my Christmas party!
Weds: weights. Another party.
Thurs: freaking exhausted, called it a night. Nada.In bed at 9pm.
Fri: 5 miles. Middle 3 miles 1x1 min intervals. Asthma issues. Ran it, but not the best. Felt like I was breathing thru water. On the bright side, I mentioned my issues to a buddy/asthma researcher/pulmonary doc and I'm seeing him in the clinic.
Sat: Most freaking awesome 10 mile run in the fresh snow. 2-3 inches of the fresh stuff and I did a 10 mile recovery run, with no problems. Hardly set off the monitor and never had to walk. Nice rhythm from the start and maintained it. Of course, my @ss and legs went numb from running in the snow. It uses all different muscles, and I could tell I had a workout. Overall, felt awesome!!!!
Sun: 5k. First one in years. Did a 1 mile warm up. Slippery as heck. Just went for it on the run. Kept pretty even splits. Was a bit slippery for the majority of the course. Ran a 28:14, 9"05 pace and good enough for 1st out of 9 in my age group. It's good to be old!
Recovered this afternoon by going to see the Nutcracker, where I promptly fell asleep.
